For the past 9
years, Kristian specialized as a Dog Behaviorist and has recently
become a National K9 Educator. As a National K9 Educator she has
created and is piloting a national canine safety education program
known as
“K9’s & Kids”. This volunteer based program will directly reduce the
number of bites endured by our children.
As a handler,
Kristian brings her own certified working K-9 to our kid’s schools and
demonstrates what a child should do to avoid a dog bite and which
critical steps the child should take if a bite has commenced.
Later this year Kristian will also help lead facilitation in order
to certify other K9 Educators nationwide. This program will be the
principal canine safety program of its kind.
Kristian is also
owner of “The Dog Lady” which is a business that targets the
“normal” families with good dogs that have a few quirks, issues,
and/or aggression.
In other terms she offers good old fashioned house-calls where
she goes to the client’s home and observes the dog and offers
behavior rehabilitation training. Kristian apprentices under
Carla van
Duyvenbode, a World Champion Schutzhund winner, as well as an
International Master Trainer/Handler.
“The Dog Lady” donates all proceeds in order to
fund the volunteer work of
“K9’s and Kids”. This summer and fall she will
also be
offering her professional strategies through her canine education
seminars for adults and families.
